That was the only thing keeping the promotion alive, Randy vs Fedor. No matter what failures the company endured, and as we saw with the first PPV, they were not going to make any money until then. The fight would have been huge, the gate would have sold out, the PPV would have been enourmous, in one of the most anticipated fights in history. Now, where can Affliction bank their money on? Arlovski? Barnett? How long before Fedor's people realize, after Arlovski, where is the huge pay day now? It currently resides in the UFC.
Let's face it. A successful business model is one that allows you to make a profit. It is simple, spend money, but make more money in return. So how much longer before Affliction decides losing money will not cut it?
How many more T-shirts will Affliction need to sell to sign former big names, and UFC veterens.
Sure Tito, Belfort, Sylvia, Arlovski, Lindland are all tremendous fighters, however they were fighters that have been there done that with the UFC.
Aside from a few names, Affliction is the AAA ball of the UFC. I think that every MMA fan realizes that. And unlike Elite XC who is trying to go after the non MMA or casual Fan, Affliction can only survive through true MMA fans. Now that the Fedor deal is done, will you spen $40 to $50 on the card? $100 to $1000 on tickets?
1. Horrible Marketing & Promotion
2. Banking on Stars built by other MMA promotions
3. God Awful Production
4. Trying to do too much too fast.
From the lips of Dana White,
"I figure after tonight those guys will be out of business," said White, before he was told about the results from the Affliction card. "And all those (fighters) will be over here."
"Because they spent a lot of money tonight. And I know more about this business than they do. When you spend a lot of money and you don't get that money back, you usually go out of business. Talk to the IFL, they know all about it." |

| I think the key to Affliction not being able to last will be that they can't consistantly put on high calibre cards. Their first one was tight, but look at how they struggled to put this one together. They are recycling the same fighters, even the ones that lost on their first one. |
