Brock Lesnar

The unfortunate news came out late last week that the rescheduled UFC 108 main event between UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin has been officially postponed indefinitely. Lesnar has contracted mononucleosis, better known as the kissing disease.

According to multiple reports, since the bout’s original postponement from UFC 106, Lesnar has been unable to resume any sort of intense training without losing breath, which prompted Lesnar’s camp to formally call the bout off … for now.

Obviously, Carwin was disappointed with the news, however remains thankful that he will get his opportunity  at winning the richest prize in the sport.

According to Carwin, the UFC has guaranteed that he will be getting his title shot as soon as Lesnar regains his health.

“The UFC has told me is that I have earned the title shot but I have to wait for the title holder,” Carwin wrote on his blog.

It was originally rumored that Lesnar contracted the “Swine Flu” and that was what caused the former WWE wrestler of the November 21st inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As of now, there is not timetable for Lesnar’s return, or when the world’s biggest MMA show will re-reschedule their scrap.

  • Lesnar soft? For what? Not wanting to fight when he is sick? I want to see the best Lesnar vs. Carwin. A fight where both fighters have no excuses.

Get well soon Brock, then fight Carwin. May the best fighter win.

  • would you fight if you had mononucleosis you narrow minded idiots.
if they had the fight and shane won it wouldnt be genuine, surely you want to see a proper fight. this is profesional mma, i think anyone with a brain would want to be fit and healthy to compete.

  • Brock is just a baby making up excuses cuz he is scared and doesnt wasnt to lose his title. Dana White needs to tell him that he has to defend his title within the next say 3 months or he is going to lose it. He isnt sick he is just scared.

  • Oh I suppose you would know huh. You overheard brock saying he was faking it. Stop talking like you lnow everything you sound like a dumbass!

  • I really doubt Lesnar is scared of anyone, especially after Dana White was going after Emelianenko. Lesnar knew that he would have to beat “the best heavyweight” if Fedor signed, so nothing about Carwin should scare him. The fight has the potential to be interesting, and I don’t want to see Lesnar lose a title and have mono as an excuse, or if Carwin does beat him, it will never be seen as legitimate. Neither Lesnar, Carwin, or the UFC want this fight to be anything but the best possible.

  • It’s unlikely Lesnar is “running” from Carwin. How long could he avoid defending his title? (Not very) and he seems to love fighting regardless of his opponent’s reputation. Carwin is awesome but the fight looks like it could go either way. Certainly, each fighter has the power to KO the other and though Lesnar was an NCAA Div. I wrestling champ, Carwin was an NCAA Div. II wrestling champ. From what I understand, that may or may not be a big difference (though I’ve never seen Carwin grapple as he normally KOs his opponent). However, Lesnar is fearsome on the ground (but needs to learn submission defense; recall Lesnar-Mir I). The bottom line: claiming that Lesnar is scared of Carwin makes the claimant sound as though they’re speaking from the inside of their anal orifice.

  • Does a flu or anything take over a month? Highly highly unlikely… how could someone be sick for that long,i would give him 2 week tops and he says he cant do UFC 108 its bullshit. Ofcourse he could be afraid of losing, all big people have some fear. If you listened what mike tyson said at his prime he was also scared of losing..
but brock lesnar not being the best with his record, far from it,has more fear.
His fight with couture gave him troubles and he got cut good by a less heavier and older man. Carwin is a real deal.
Brock lesnar needs to get his act togheter and fight that chicken

  • I am not a Lesnar fan, but in his defense mono is a tough illness and can take a couple months to get over. I agree that both fighters should be at full health so no one can claim they had an unfair advantage. I really enjoy an active and fast paced bout, do you really want a fighter taking a nap while on the ground because he’s sick?

  • Well, this is the word on the inside as far as Brock Lesnar goes. Brock Lesnar is suffering from a massive asshole infection. His asshole is almost completely destroyed because the infection went “unnoticed” for such a long time. I will supply updates when I get more info.

  • Lesnar does not appear like a coward, he’s fought anyone at the highest level with next to no MMA experience, is that the actions of a frightened man?

Ok, Randy cut him, so what? I would cut him with a punch, I couldn’t beat him tho!

Would some of the idiots on here please read what Dana White says, HE WILL NOT DISCLOSE WHAT IS WRONG WITH BROCK OTHER THAN IT IS NOT CANCER OR AIDS.

Its a disgrace all the haters can’t show the guys some respect, he’s fkn awesome and you all better get used to it bcos a healthy Brock will be champion for as long as he wants.

  • I can’t believe I actually read that Brock Lesnar is faking illness! Wow! The people that stated that above need their head examined. I think we all know that Lesnar is not afraid of competition. Let’s say this Carwin does beat him?!?! You misunderstand the Lesnar mindset if you think he would back down or be scared. I would be more inclined to think he would train harder for a second fight and nail him to near death!

Brock is a real athlete and college level Champion in Wrestling. he has proven himself in all that he does! You have to be insane to think this guy would run from anyone!!!!!!!
