The Octagon’s graphics department has a lot of cut and pasting to do because UFC 146‘s original event poster needs a significant facelift. Now that the final adjustments have been made to the May 26th lineup, they can get to work.
Courtesy of Alistair Overeem’s flunked pre-fight drug test, four of the five heavyweight scraps appearing in the live pay-per-view broadcast had to be overhauled.
Frank Mir was pulled from his top contender bout with Cain Velasquez in order to replace Overeem and challenge champ Junior dos Santos for his crown in the show’s featured attraction. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva was then promoted to the co-main event in Mir’s place. The Brazilian now stands opposite Velasquez.
Gabriel Gonzaga was subsequently selected to fill “Bigfoot’s” shoes to fight Roy Nelson. The final domino to fall was when Stipe Miocic was selected to take Gonzaga’s spot to battle Shane Del Rosario.
The only 265-pound affair that wasn’t affected by Overeem’s exit was the Stephan Struve vs. Mark Hunt shootout.
Get it? Got it? Good!
