How hysterical was Ben Rothwell’s call out of Travis Browne (pictured) following Saturday’s TKO victory over Brandon Vera at UFC 164? Well, it was so funny Browne went all “LOL” with the request on Twitter.
“LOL @rothwellfighter had your chance a yr ago but you magically sprained your little toe and now you want to be given something I’ve earned,” Browne tweeted.
To which Rothwell promptly responded, “@travisbrowneMMA it’s all respect man, just think we would have a great fight, and giving the fans that is all I care about.”
Browne wasn’t buying it and believes Rothwell shouldn’t try to jump the heavyweight line by mimicking Chael Sonnen, “Ok @RothwellFighter if it was about respect then you would work yourway up the ladder andearn the shots I’ve earned notask for them w/themic.”
The 265-pounders were slated to collide at UFC on FOX 4 until an injury forced Rothwell to withdraw at the 11th hour. Browne was subsequently pulled from the event and assigned to Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva two months later.
Browne injured his hamstring in the opening minutes and was TKO’d by Silva. “Hapa” bounced back nicely by knocking out Gabriel Gonzaga and then former top contender Alistiar Overeem, the biggest win of his career, just last month.
Rothwell, meanwhile, has alternated between wins and losses over his past nine scraps. The TRT-fueled 31-year-old hasn’t posted consecutive victories since 2007.
