With just 18 days remaining until showtime, Wilson Reis has agreed to replace “Kid” Norifumi Yamamoto (pictured) and fight Ivan Menjivar at “UFC 165: Jones vs. Gustafsson.”
UFC officials announced the swap Tuesday afternoon. Details surrounding Yamamoto’s exit were not disclosed.
Reis was slated to make his UFC debut tomorrow against Hugo Viana at UFC Fight Night 28, but Viana was forced to witdraw at the 11th hour and Reis was removed from the card.
Reis will be riding a four-fight winning streak into his big league premiere. Three of those wins came via submission.
Speaking of tap outs, Menjivar is looking to bounce back from a first round submission loss to Urijah Faber at UFC 157. However, the veteran has won four of his six scraps.
Yamamoto vs. Menjivar was slated to appear in the second-to-last bout on the Fox Sports 1 prelims. It is believed the new matchup will retain that same slot in the lineup.
