“The Thoroughbred” has decided to ride off into the sunset. On Friday, 11-year veteran Jay Hieron (pictured) announced his retirement from mixed martial arts via Twitter.
“Jus wanna say Thank you to my family, friends, & fans. I’m Officially Retiring from Professional Fighting today!” Hieron wrote.
Hieron owns a respectable 23-7 professional record. However, he lost all four of his fights in the UFC, including his two most recent scraps.
He was cut from the UFC shortly after.
The best stretch of the 37-year-old’s career started in November 2007 when he rattled off 10 straight victories en route to capturing the IFL welterweight title.
