Typically, any fight announcements made on April Fools’ Day should never be taken seriously. However, the UFC reported this scrap via their official Twitter account, so it should be legitimate.
In addition, there’s little to gain from joking about a likely under card scrap between middleweights Uriah Hall (pictured) and Thiago Marreta at UFC 175.
Hall collected a much-needed win in his last outing by making veteran Chris Leban quit on his stool at UFC 168. “The Ultimate Fighter 17” runner-up had dropped his two prior tangos inside the octagon in uneventful fashion.
Marreta has alternated between wins and losses over his past five bouts. The Brazilian is fresh off last month’s TKO victory over Ronny Markes.
Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts the July 5 festivities.
Here are the athletes expected to perform in the event:
Thiago Marreta vs. Uriah Hall
Daniel Cormier vs. Dan Henderson
Lyoto Machida vs. Chris Weidman (UFC middleweight champion)
