The original winner of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Diego Sanchez, has confirmed via his Twitter account earlier this evening that he will move back up to the welterweight division .
“YES IM GOING BACK TO WELTERWEIGHT IM LOVING MY NEW DIET.I WANT KOS OR FITCH BUT ANY TOP GUY WILL DO JUST WANT TO GIVE U FANS THE BEST FIGHT,” Sanchez wrote.
Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch were the two losses that caused Sanchez to drop to lightweight in the first place and it seems as though he hasn’t forgotten about it.
His recent loss to BJ Penn forced Sanchez’ hand as he was well aware that the odds of getting another crack at Penn were slim and the odds of him beating Penn were even slimmer.
Sanchez apparently would also welcome a bout with Nate Diaz, who has talked about moving up but hasn’t made any announcement as of yet.
“I hear your going up too 170 too i would love to welcome you to welterweight lets make it happen,” Sanchez tweeted to Nate Diaz.
It appears that Sanchez has selected the lesser of two evils by returning to the welterweight division.
