“Strikeforce: Houston” Event Confirmed With Kick-Off Press Conference

Strikeforce has officially announced their next major event will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on August 21st. The San Jose, California based promotion will hold a press conference next Tuesday, July 13th featuring some of the fighters expected to participate on the card.

A special pre-sale ticket purchase opportunity will be presented for “Strikeforce Insider” e-newsletter subscribers on Tuesday, July 13th at 10AM CT until 10PM CT on Thursday, July 15th. Check your Inbox for the special pre-sale code.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 16 at 10AM CT.

The reported main event will be a light heavyweight title bout between newly crowned champ Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal and Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante.

It will mark Lawal’s first championship defense since beating Gegard Mousasi at “Strikeforce: Nashville.” To the surprise of many, King Mo was able to cruise to an easy unanimous decision victory en route to capturing the belt.

A lightweight fight between UFC veteran Jorge Gurgel and K.J. Noons is also expected for the show, as well as a cameo by middleweight Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

More scraps are expected to be announced during the kick-off press conference. We’ll see you in front of Yao Ming’s house at 2PM CT on July 13th.
