UFC Middleweight Nate Marquardt

Now that “UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2″ is officially in the books, let’s take a look ahead to the Octagon’s next show. “UFC Fight Night 22” will be popping off September 15th inside the Frank Erwin Special Events Center on the campus of The University of Texas.

The freebie Spike TV broadcast will feature an intriguing middleweight contest between former top contender Nate Marquardt and grappling ace Rousimar Palhares.

Palhares holds a respectable 11-2 record and has rattled off three straight wins. The BJJ ace has finished eight of his wins via submission, so you know he’ll be seeking to drag the Jackson Submission trained fighter to the canvas ASAP.

Marquardt looks to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Chael Sonnen, who earned a shot at Anderson Silva’s title with his performance at UFC 109 in February. Despite the minor setback, Marquardt still owns an impressive 29-9-2 resume and remains one of the planet’s best 185-pounders.

Here are the fighters rumored/expected to participate in she event:

Preliminary Bouts:

Brian Foster vs. Forrest Petz
David Mitchell vs. Anthony Waldburger
Rich Attonito vs. Rafael Natal
Dave Branch vs. Tomasz Drwal
Jared Hamman vs. Kyle Kingsbury
Yves Edwards vs. John Gunderson

Main Bouts:
