It appears Nate Marquardt has thrown in the middleweight towel, at least for the time being. According to Versus, the former 185-pound top contender will reportedly drop to the welterweight division and headline “UFC on Versus 4” opposite Anthony Johnson.
Marquardt owns an impressive 31-10-2 resume, with 23 of his victories coming via devastating finish. He was seen last month taking a unanimous decision win over Dan Miller at UFC 128. This bout will mark his Octagon welterweight debut.
Johnson holds a 9-3 record and has finished six of his victims before the final horns have sounded. He posted a unanimous decision win over Dan Hardy two weeks ago at “UFC Fight Night 24.”
“UFC on Versus 4” takes place inside the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Versus will broadcast the show live at 9PM ET/6PM PT.
