UFC middleweight top contender Chael Sonnen didn’t say much leading up to his UFC 136 bout with Brian Stann, but the second it was all said and done he quickly bounced back to form.
After dominating Stann before forcing the ex-Marine to submit to an arm-triangle choke, the opinionated 185-pounder immediately called out reigning middleweight king Anderson Silva, who was sitting front row and appeared unimpressed, for a rematch of their epic UFC 117 fight.
“Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck,” Sonnen emphatically stated.
In true WWE fashion, Sonnen called for their second go-round in a loser-leaves-town-type of bout.
“Super Bowl weekend, the biggest rematch in the history of the business,” continued Sonnen. “I’m calling you out Silva, but we’re upping the stakes. I beat you, you leave the division. You beat me, I will leave the UFC forever.”
Not normally one to allow fighters arrange their next contests, UFC president Dana White immediately responded to Sonnen’s comments via Twitter.
“S*** just GOT REAL!!!!!!,” White tweeted.
Saturday marked Sonnen’s first bout since serving a suspension handed down by the California State Athletic Commission for his failed drug test and legal issues stemming from a money laundering case.
